Character Information
Name: Alex Benedetto
Canon: Gangsta.
Canon Point: Ch 44 right before she's knocked out by a Paulklee Guild member.
Age: 24
History:
(Not much of Alex's past has been revealed yet and only glimpses of her past have been shown, so information is limited)

Alex lived with her mother, father, and her younger brother, Emilio, somewhere outside of Ergastulum (a former prison city turned quarantine site for human experiments known as Twilights). After her mother was murdered (supposedly by a Twilight), with both children still quite young, her father turned to alcohol. With her father in an unstable state, Alex took it upon herself to provide and care for the family, particularly her brother. As the years went by, Alex found it more and more difficult to provide for everyone, and being desperate enough she took up an offer for a better job in the city by Barry Abbot. Under the assumption that she would be able to return to her family with more money, Alex left her brother to go with Barry. She would soon find out that Barry had tricked her, and that she would remain with him for next ten or so years working for him as a prostitute.

During her time with Barry, Alex was repeatedly sexually, physically, and mentally abused. Her attempts of escape or rebellion was met with severe punishment, and Barry made use of drugs (TB pills) to make her more obedient. One day, she's approached by the Benriya and told that Barry will no longer be a problem. It turns out they were hired to kill him and any of his affiliates, which included Alex. However, Worrick decided to spare her, and they took her in as a secretary. They also got her a job as a singer for the club Bastard, run by the Cristiano Family.

She is presently still struggling with the effects of the drugs given to her, which includes the temporary loss of most of her memories up to when the Benriya saved her, hallucinations, and high risk of suicide.

Recent events have gotten them entangled with a war between the main mafia families in the city. The Corsica Family has hired the new generation of Destroyers, the descendants of successful Twilight experiments, to take out the Twilights in the city. Unbeknownst to Alex, her brother Emilio was hired to help out. Due to how dangerous their involvement is, Worrick had left a note for Alex back in the office telling her to leave while she could. He also left behind some cash (and a headless body, which was a good indication of how bad things were getting) for her to use and get by with. She was about to leave when she got knocked out by a Paulklee guild member.

Personality:
For many years, Alex was an empty shell. Due to the drugs, her mind was fuzzy for the most part, and her emotions she had shut off to protect herself from the abuse. Even when working, she barely had any reactions to what was done to her, letting Barry and the men that bought her have their way for the most part. Despite everything, she still had moments when she’d fight back, like biting a customer if they went too far. Barry still seemed to be trying to instill in her that there was no point in trying to escape, which indicates that she may have still made attempts to run away. That she’s lasted this long , despite how most sex workers that were made to use the drug ended up killing themselves, also shows her resiliency.

Having just started to recover from this, she can be very distant and wary of people she has just met. She is not the type to talk about herself, although that is partly because the memories of her time before being a prostitute are still hazy.

Alex is a wallflower, preferring to wait in the sidelines while the others talk, although keeping your head down and minding your own business was needed to stay out of trouble as well. Due to her previous occupation, she is used to people not wanting to associate with her, but any comments about her past job still make her uncomfortable. Still, if she feels you’re a good person, she will try to befriend you and get to know you better. In that way she can be very stubborn. An example of that would be with Nicolas from the Benriya. He didn’t try to hide that he avoided being in the same room as her in the beginning. Despite that, because she knows of how kind he really is, she continues to try and talk to him, even teaching herself sign language so that she can communicate with him better.

Although she is usually shy and docile, if she feels comfortable enough with the person she won’t hesitate to reprimand or physically hurt them (smack or bite) if they annoy her enough. The childish side of hers that she had repressed for so long will show more as well through pouts and moments of clinginess.

Watching from the background and being around abusive men has made Alex observant and she can pick up on people’s emotions easily. When she sees that someone she cares for needs someone, she is the first one by their side. In these situations, Alex takes more initiative and will quite literally hold your hand through it all. She does still go back and forth between taking care of others and looking out for herself, as well as doing as she's told and thinking for herself.

Abilities & Skills:
+ Singing- Worrick has overheard Alex humming many times. Finding it a waste to do nothing with it, he hooked her up with the Cristiano family’s bar as their new singer.
+ Can cook simple meals.
+ Not a trained fighter, more of a scrapper. Has shot a gun before and uses whatever is around her.
+ Can understand some sign language. She is currently still studying it.
+Odd jobs, thanks to working with the Benriya.

Inventory/Companions:
+A string around her neck that carries a key and a tag with a number on it
+A bottle of tranquilizers that help with her hallucinations
+The Handkerchief Nicolas lent her

Choice: Monster: Merrow
Reason:
I think having to deal with the changes as a monster would be interesting to play out along with the effects of the drugs she’s trying to get a handle of. There are quite a few parallels between the feral state of a monster and her fight and flight response when her symptoms are acting up. I chose merrow specifically because while she is alluring in her own way (also having had to seduce people for work) and somewhat childlike in certain aspects, she can be surprisingly feisty when threatened. She is also a singer, so that was a more obvious match up. While I’m also here for the struggle, I’d like to see if and how she could possibly come to own who she is, since that is something she was dealing with even before the change.
