[Alex freezes. Now she's worried she's made it worse.]

Sorry...

[She slowly turns her back to him again so he can continue.]

...What was it like for you back then? If..you're okay talking about it.

You should sit and let me work- it might take a while. [ And he probably shouldn't be distracting her in first place but...buuuut.... the temptation... ]

Huh? Back when? [ Oh wait-- ] When I was alive?

And whose fault is that? [She mumbles]

Yeah, when you were alive.

[ His, his, absolutely 100% his, but he won't admit that aloud ]

That's a long period of time- [ Not that much ] -lot of good times, some bad times, but ah isn't it life? [ For once, it's not him being evasive, just not sure on what to focus ] What exactly would you want to know?

[Alex stretches her arms out in front of her legs as she thought about it.]

What was your family like?

[ And he braids her hair, gently, thoughtfully- a complicated hairstyle slowly emerging under his hand as he speaks ]

Hmm, big, I guess. Mother, grandfather, then uncle- my foster-father- all his sons counts too. Well, our king as well since my mother was his sister. [ Someone could make a joke that half of Ulster fostered him, but that's not that far from truth ] Not to mention there was hell lotsa of us among the Knights.

[ Despite not using any names, there is clear fondness for everyone mentioned ]

Then my teacher, my foster-brother, and my wife. [ It's hard to put a value to whom was the most important one- you don't give value like that to people you love. ]

Good people all of them. Each completely different, some kind of crazy. [ He clears his throat, sounding wary- what prompted this question in the first place. Is he going to walk into a trap™? ] Each a story on their own.

[Alex listens quietly, feelings the warm tone in his voice. It made her smile, actually, listening to him talk about the people dear to him.]

They sound nice..I'd like to hear about them some time. If that's okay with you.

[ With her, it's okay. Besides, it was always easier to talk about others ]

He-eey, you sure you want to indulge me like that? What if I happen to talk for hours?

[ He moves on a side to focus on a left part of her head, adding smaller braids and weaving them into something bigger on the back. ]

Or do you want to trade stories?

I don’t mind, your stories are interesting.

[They sounded like something right out of a book. Way more fascinating to hear than anything she had to share.]

I also don’t really have any stories to share.

[She chuckles softly.]

Your shinki is a dragon, that's already a big story on itself. [ How do you eat a dinner with your shinki when he won't fit into the building? Or maybe he does? What a bed for a dragon? Questions, questions. ]

Hmm... how about my teacher then. [ He's a fanboy through and through. But the joke is that it's easy to move for any else of them from here. They're all important, and they're all connected even if not all of them met face to face ] She was such a pain in the ass it's impossible to not talk about her. Not that she really would enjoy that kind of fame- she was weird like that.

[ Might be weird to talk about teacher when mentioning family, but she was part of it ]

[She laughs at that.] Yeah, but..those are all recent. [Although she never minded talking about her shinki.]

Hmm...is that why you sound so fond of her?
