The Morning After Meme

[Waking without yet opening his eyes, Oda already feels the weight and warmth of another body lying in bed with him...

Huh. What brought this about? When he opens his eyes, he finds the room oddly bright. Beside him is a lady with dark skin and long, black hair.

First, this isn't his room. He's not at home.

Second, had Oda and the lady been lying together this whole time, or had he been too tired or poisoned to notice her joining him? Why are last night's events such a blur?

In any case, he doesn't have a clear view of her face, and they don't appear to be in any immediate danger. So he lies still, remaining calm, and waits.]

[ Alex sighs as she turns, not as aware of the body next to her. It takes her another moment to stir, her eyes opening, but unfocused. She blinks lazily, not fully taking in the other form in front of her.

After all, there was no way there’d be someone else in her bed. Even if she can’t seem to remember how she even got into bed. Was she dreaming? She reaches out, poking at what might be his face. ]

...Ow.

[His voice is low; his reaction, muted. Her prodding doesn't really hurt much, but she is still going for his face.

In a deadpan voice,] Careful. Might put someone's eye out.

Alex jumped up so fast, shuffling away as fast as she can from what apparently was a person next to her. She failed to realize how small the bed was though, falling right off the edge. ]

WAH!

[Oda blinks impassively. Must've scared her. He probably should be more worried about having woke up with a stranger, right? This could be a setup, except why would anyone bother setting up a mafia grunt like him?

Peeking over the edge of the bed,] Whoops.

You all right?

Y-yeah I’m— [ She tries to gather herself, somewhat tangled in the sheets. She peeks up from the edge of the bed, looking up at him. ]

Why are..who— [ She had so many questions, she didn’t know where to start. ]

I..I didn’t do anything to you...did I..? [ It’s been a while since anything like that had happened, and she’s been taking her medication. So it couldn’t have been that..]

[There's no such thing as a prank setup. Not that Oda knows of, at least. So then this might not be a setup... is this a reward? Because if so, it's really unnecessary. Though it's not like they've ever rewarded him for being a grunt before. Why would they start rewarding grunts now, and especially in a fashion such as this?

Sitting up and patiently waiting for a break in her sputtering,]

Ah— [Quickly, he glances at himself. Nothing seems amiss, so his gaze returns to her face.] —no, doesn't look like anything happened.

I'm Oda. Sakunosuke Oda. [After a pause, he reaches over to offer a helping hand.] You?

[ She was looking herself over as well, relieved to see her clothes on. ]

Alex..Benedetto..[ She hesitates a moment before taking his hand, letting him help her up. All she remembers was working at the bar last night, and having a few drinks after her set with the convincing of some regulars. After that...she couldn’t remember. ]

I’m sorry— do you prefer Oda or Sa..Sakuno..suke? [ Sorry, she still gets confused with names sometimes. ]

[He waits in silent understanding as she studies herself, then again as she considers taking his hand.]

Oda's fine.

[Once he's helped her up, he moves to sit at the edge of the bed before getting up. Glancing around, he sees the room is as nondescript as they come. He frowns at his thoughts before turning to her with a more neutral expression.]

What about you, what do you prefer?

Alex is fine...Do you know where we are?

[ At least she didn’t recognize it. ]

Or um..how we got here..?

Can't say I do. On either count. [The room doesn't seem to have any windows... Is it a safe room of some sort? There's a door...] But we might find out the first one, at least.

[Oda calmly strolls to the door—he doesn't foresee any danger—and turns the knob. He then cautiously opens the door to reveal a short hallway leading to a stairwell. Still, there isn't anything in particular that indicates their location.]

Hm. Though it might take longer than I'd expected. [Glancing back at Alex,] Let's go?
