[ The poor kid has been making these pained noises since last night. She managed to sleep a little, but it was tough knowing the person next to her was suffering so much. It only got worse, and Robin couldn't stand not doing something about it. She got up early that morning, gathering some items that she'd need in the room before heading to the kitchen. Robin's memories may not have all returned yet, but she still remembered how she nursed her little brother.
Having finished cooking, she returned to the room and put the bowl down next to the his futon. She had gotten back in time to hear his muffled moan. ]
Raiden,
[She called out softly, gently nudging him over the blankets.]
[ Raiden attempts to crack an eye open. Augh, this was the worst, he never got sick, but when he did? He was nothing. He looks up at Robin through the little hole of his burrito wrap blankets, wrinkling his stuffy, red nose. ]
Miss Robinnnn . . . [ He shrills, as if to thank her until the ends of time. He opens his mouth, closes his mouth, hitches his breath and looks about ready to sneeze, when— it doesn't come. He does attempt to sit up though, still wrapped in his cocoon. ]
[Robin pulls her pillow over to help prop him up.]
That's why you need to eat.
[She gives him a sympathetic smile, pushing some strands of his hair out of his face. He's sweating quite a bit. A change of clothes will be needed after he eats. Robin picks up the bowl, scooping up a spoonful of the soup and blowing over it.]
Here, 'ahh',
[She brings the spoon closer to his mouth without really thinking about it, like it felt natural for her to do.]
[ He wants to cry. Like— legit cry. That, if he isn't crying a bit already. He's being babied. Babied! Taken care of and watched by a woman, with a motherly touch—! Raiden sniffs, sounding out a squeak with watery eyes and opening his mouth like a baby bird. She is heaven, she is grace. He wants to be sick for a little while longer all of a sudden.
This is what it's like . . . What it's like to have an Onee-san . . . . ! ]
[She chuckled at his reaction. What a sweet kid. It was like feeding a baby animal.
Her hand stopped mid-scoop at his request, feeling a her a momentary tightness in her chest. She could hear a small, unrecognizable voice in the back of her head calling out to her. Did she really deserve such a title after what she's done? Still, the way he asked just tugged at her heart strings, making it difficult to refuse.]
You can call me what you'd like.
[Her smile is a little weaker this time, but she continues with feeding him.]
Come on, we gotta get you out of those clothes after this.
[ Raiden's lips pull into a wibbly smile after all that anticipation— he does notice something off, though, and after happily taking the food with water balloon eyes: ]
Alright! You're . . . Not feeling sick too, are you?
[She's caught off guard by the question, but she's touched. That face was unfair. She swiped any stray rice grains around his mouth with her thumb. Robin let's out a sigh, but smiles. She felt better already.]
I'm alright, but it's sweet of you to ask.
[Robin feeds him the rest of the soup before putting the bowl down.]
Alright, time to get you changed out of those clothes.
[ She was, without a doubt, a true onee-san, the light of all worlds. The big sis that would repel all evils of the universe. It was her. Raiden's chest bubbles with inexplicable glee and a meek grin to match, quickly wiggling out of his burrito to do as she said. ]
I'll change as quick as possible big si— seh
[ His nose flares, he freezes, parts his mouth and—
Sneezes.
And when he sneezes, bright lights bounce off his skin in erratic flashes, lighting up the room in an array of flashing greens and pinks, blues and purples ]
[ They were. They were coming from the boy of light, of energy. He was his own dance party. It's too bad he's way too wiped to join it. Raiden sniffs, rubs his nose into the fabric of his shirt and looks down at his flashing skin. Whoa, what the . . .
Cool, he mutters, before his words edge into a light cough. At least the lights dim down until he's normal colored again. ]
I think I'm— a rabe?
[ That's "rave", but he's breathing through the mouth— his nose is way too stuffed. ]
Yeah, like— [ A sniff. ] A pardy with lotsa lights.
[ With a small gesture for Onee-San to close her eyes, mumbling a polite 'cause me, he starts taking his shirt off and such for the extra change nearby. All quick as a snap so he could get back to his burrito. ]
[Like a club? Though she hand't seen one with lights like Raiden had showed her. Maybe they had them where he is from though she hopes he hasn't been going to those
The gesture doesn't register for a while since she's gotten so used to seeing men without their clothes. All the more because he's a kid. It just hit her now that, oh right, there are those that don't like it.]
Ah-! Wait! You have to wipe yourself first. There's a lot of sweat.
[She brings the basin of water that she carried in earlier closer to him.]
[ This is not what you were expecting. There were supposed to be lights after that exaggerated achoo—, but something much larger than that booms with the lights. Literally.
Because that sneeze is woven with the loud crack of thunder, like the cloud had been right in the very room. That cloud was Raiden, flashing in an array of colors with his hair completely on end. He's sparking. He just did the thunder clap, and now came the lights. ]
[Robin jumps at the boom, not expecting the thunderous sound. For a second she thought a bomb had gone off, and instinctively pulls Raiden against her chest, wrapping her arms around him protectively, one arm around the blanket and another one around his shoulder with a hand on his head. It's not until he speaks again, lights flashing like crazy, that she realizes it was him. She looks down at him, having to squint due to the lights.]
....Is anything else going to happen th next time you sneeze?
[ She's squeezing him into her chest. Her protective, motherly, full and cushiony chest, and he's running on the idea that he's got something cool happening to his chi or chakras or whatever. Feeling a little lightheaded, Raiden makes very little movement in her arms, only trying to breathe and keeping his eyes shut momentarily. Whoa there, don't throw up. Don't throw up on sacred grounds. ]
Iiiiiiii . . . I dunno. I wish I didn't suck so much right nowwww.
[ At least, he smiles, finding comfort in the hold and giving a sniffle as the lights die down. ]
[At his innocent question, Robin smiles down at him.]
Of course.
[She loosens her grip on him, letting her arms hang loosely around his body. The hand on his head stays, and starts to pet his hair gently, combing her fingers through the tips. What a familiar feeling this was. His hair wasn't curly, but this whole set up made her feel like she was with her brother again. Ah, what was that song he always asked her to sing?
As she caresses him with her hand, her eyes close for a moment, and she starts to hum softly.]
[ Were his eyes getting heavy? Maybe it's all part of the blazing fever, his energy capsules needing a refill and just rest in general. He needed rest to feel better, rest to wake up in completely different spirits—
The song is so, so nice, and the comfort against him is even more so. Something he had missed, something every being needs at least once in a while. From one moment to the next, Raiden seems to be breathing just a little deeper, eyes shut, and taking a snooze, the song taking him into dreamland and to a trail of calmness.
